A better experience, for you and your family may have been Royal Caribbean or Disney. Carnival has a lively, noisey, entertainment culture. This is a mass market line, that being said, seeking out a specialized Cruise vibe probably is for you. But some of the things you criticized I would've taken up with the ships Customer Service.

Real close to Hanging Dog and lake Hiwassee, use to primitive camp there alot. Lots of weird things happen there.

I find Tiki really interesting. From what I understand the very first Tiki style bar opened after prohibition ended. Tiki became mainstream pop culture after WW2 ended. By the late 70s or early 80s most of the Tiki bars had closed down. Over the last 20 years things that are considered "mid century" have become fashionable. Rockabilly, classic cars, Tiki, etc. Nowadays there are a lot of new Tiki bars and mid century conventions.

I was born in Orlando in 1958 and grew up going to Colonial Plaza with my parents and on my own once I was old enough to drive. I remember going to Jordan Marsh at Christmas and the restaurant on the top floor. Ronnie’s was my favorite restaurant of all time, so sad to see the changes that have happened over the past 60+ years. But that happens everywhere 😢 Was nice hearing the history😅 of the mall, which I didn’t previously know.
